Onion Stuffed Parathas

Ingredients:
- Flour (Maida)
- Salt (Namak)
- Sugar (Chini)
- Ghee
- Vegetable oil (Any refined oil of your choice like soyabean oil/ sunflower oil/ rice bran oil etc)
- Onion (Pyaz)
- Green Chilli
- Dry Red Chilli Powder or Flakes
- Ginger (Adrak)
- Cumin Powder (Jeera Powder)
- Coriander Powder (Dhaniya Powder)
- Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
- Black Cumin or Nigella Seeds (Kalonji or Kala Jeera)
- Asafoetida (Hing)
Recipe:
There are four main steps for achieving this tasty and easy recipe.

- Onion Stuffing Preparation
- Making the final parathas (Stuffing the dough, rolling it out and frying)
- Enjoying with family and friends
Step 1: Dough Preparation
- Take a bowl and pour 2 cups of flour, 2 tablespoon of vegetable oil or ghee, a pinch of sugar, and 2 pinches of salt with half a cup water.
- Mix all these for preparing a soft and moist dough.
- Cover the prepared dough and keep it aside for 5-10 minutes for better moistening.
Step 2: Stuffing Preparation
- Take a frying pan and heat it on the gas oven or induction cooktop.
- Pour 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil when the pan gets slightly heated.
- Pour a pinch of Carom Seeds (Ajwain), a pinch of Black Cumin (Kala jeera), and a pinch of Asafoetida (Hing) on the pan.
- When the Carom seeds start crackling in the pan, then add 2 chopped onions and 3-5 grams of chopped ginger to the pan.
- Mix chilli powder/flakes, cumin powder, and coriander powder in a separate bowl. Take 1/2 teaspoon of this mixture and add it to the frying pan.
- Add 1 chopped green chili to the frying stuffing.
- Stir the mixture continuously and fry till it gets golden brown.
- Take the mixture out of the pan and keep it separate for cooling.
Now your stuffing is ready.
Step 3: Making the Final Parathas
- Divide the prepared dough into 4 parts and spread them like bowls using slight flour or oil for giving it a better shape.
- Fill 1 teaspoon of stuffing in each bowl-shaped dough part.
- Close each of the stuffed dough bowls and shape them like a closed sphere.
- Then spread each stuffed dough sphere using a roti maker or rolling board to give them the shape of parathas.
- Now take a frying pan, pour 1 tablespoon of ghee or vegetable oil, and heat it.
- After the oil gets heated in the pan, place each paratha on it one by one, and fry both sides till it gets golden brown.
- Then take each paratha out of the pan and place it on your plate.
Your hot and spicy onion stuffed parathas are ready. You can enjoy these with a sauce of your choice or a cup of tea.
